MEET THE CHARACTERS
Trek (Trevor)
Trek is a young earth-attuned mage who joined a mercenary company for food and shelter after living on the streets. He carries himself with a quiet wariness, but there's a spark of loyalty and eagerness to prove himself. He sleeps with one hand on his satchel and always knows where the nearest exit or hiding spot is.
Lyle
Lyle is a light-attuned elemental with a practical streak and a dry wit. He can heal a wound or blind an enemy, and he treats both with the same matter-of-fact calm. He keeps his blond hair short because it gets in his eyes when he fights, and he never lets anyone call him a hero.
Almerus
Almerus is the village chief's son, trained from childhood to inherit leadership. He is intelligent, literate, and skilled with a staff and bow, though he admits his sister Elaina outshines him in hunting. He carries himself with quiet competence and a sense of duty, but there's no resentment—only a steady, grounded presence.
Eliana
Elaina is the daughter of the village chief, trained from childhood not for rule but for combat. She is the village weapon master's successor, skilled with twin swords and a bow, and carries herself with the calm confidence of someone who knows her blade is faster than most. Her long blond hair stays braided out of her face, and she tends to assess people with a direct, measuring look before she speaks.
Nissa
18 year old Brown long hair she keeps back in a single pony tail. Shes toned and attractive, attuned to elemental magic of Earth. Tough looking.
Sagar
Sagar is a man of immense physical strength and elemental earth attunement, his body carved like stone and his mind just as solid. He moves with deliberate grace for his size, and his charisma draws people naturally into his orbit. He has a goal he pursues with quiet intensity, and those who follow him feel like they are part of something larger.
Sheba
Sheba is a twin-tailed cat familiar, a magical creature that looks like a standard house cat but with two independently controlled tails. She communicates telepathically with her bonded person, often with a dry, observant wit. She likes warm laps, being right, and food that appears without effort.

Prologue
The search under the mysterious presence of the Tower lingers over all the members of the Nightmen.
Caelfall
The chapter is told from Almerus's point of view. He wakes up in his family hut to his twin sister Eliana excitingly waking him up. "Tomorrow's our Rak-Tah celebration! Tonight we get to go out on our very first hunt." Eliana then run excitedly out of the hut. Almerus will sit up and get a good glance at himself at a mirror hanging on the wall of the hut. His eyes red from the restless night he had. He will grab a jug of water and pour it into a bowl, to splash and clean his face to help him wake. Then giving himself a quick clean he gets up and starts to dress. This time he puts on tanned leathers that were created just for him and his sister for their coming of age "Rak-Tah". Leathers stiched together from the hunt of their parents. More annoying then the usual wool and cloth they would normaly wear.
Rak-Tah
Almerus and Eliana both work on preparing their gear. Almerus's staff and bow, Eliana's swords and bow. Both thier parents are there helping them prepare to set them off for thier hunt. Mom will say "You both are my Moon and sun and I know you are both capable of great things. Stay safe and remember, Stay down wind." Eliana will be annoyed but greatful at her mothers advice. Thier father will jump in saying not to forget him, and bear hug them all. Giving his love. The two will pack up and start to head off, heading for the mountains on the back side of the valley. Eliana will tease about how shes going to get the bigger catch, becuase she always did. Traveling for a while they head into the forest, then the two start to work, moving quietly through the trees keeping an eye out for any tracks. As they traveled up some of the hunting paths, they then hear a *Click* in the forest, I signal up the mountain towards the sound. The guess would be a deer or small elk.
